Tesla unveiled the Model 3 tonight at an event in LA, and I decided to put in a reservation for one even though I already have a Model X on ordered. At only $35,000, ordering the Model 3 was pretty much an impulse purchase.
Elon Musk didn’t revealed much about the new car, other than say it will do 0-60 mph in less than six seconds, have a 215 mile range, and is able to fit a seven foot surfboard inside the car (very important for California).
The company received over 115,000 reservations in less than 24 hours. That means Tesla got $115 million of deposits and over $4 billion in sales for a car that no one had seen or sat in until just a few hours ago. And I just realized I’m one of them! Model 3 delivery is expected to begin late 2017. I guess my Model X, which will be delivered next month, will have to tie me over until then.
Did you reserved your Tesla Model 3? It only takes a $1,000 deposit to reserve one. Better do it before the all the tax incentives are gone!
